Object based change detection of Central Asian Tugai vegetation with very high spatial resolution satellite imagery

چکیده
Ecological restoration of degraded riparian Tugai forests in north-western China is a key driver to combat desertification in this region. Recent restoration efforts attempt to recover the forest along with its most dominant tree species, Populus euphratica. The present research observed the response of natural vegetation using an object based change detection method on QuickBird (2005) and WorldView2 (2011) data. We applied the region growing approach to derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values in order to identify single P. euphratica trees, delineate tree crown areas and quantify crown diameter changes. Results were compared to 59 reference trees. The findings confirmed a positive tree crown growth and suggest a crown diameter increase of 1.14 m, on average. On a single tree basis, tree crown

Object-Oriented Method for Automatic Extraction of Road from High Resolution Satellite Images
As the information carried in a high spatial resolution image is not represented by single pixels but by meaningful image objects, which include the association of multiple pixels and their mutual relations, the object based method has become one of the most commonly used strategies for the processing of high resolution imagery. This processing comprises two fundamental and critical steps towar...
متن کاملObject-Based Classification of UltraCamD Imagery for Identification of Tree Species in the Mixed Planted Forest
This study is a contribution to assess the high resolution digital aerial imagery for semi-automatic analysis of tree species identification. To maximize the benefit of such data, the object-based classification was conducted in a mixed forest plantation. Two subsets of an UltraCam D image were geometrically corrected using aero-triangulation method. Some appropriate transformations were perfor...
متن کاملComparing the Capability of Sentinel 2 and Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery in Land Use and Land Cover Mapping Using Pixel-based and Object-based Classification Methods
Introduction: Having accurate and up-to-date information on the status of land use and land cover change is a key point to protecting natural resources, sustainable agriculture management and urban development. Preparing the land cover and land use maps with traditional methods is usually time and cost consuming. Nowadays satellite imagery provides the possibility to prepare these maps in less ...
متن کاملObject Level Strategy for Spectral Quality Assessment of High Resolution Pan-sharpen Images
Panchromatic and multi-spectral images produced by the remote sensing satellites are fused together to provide a multi-spectral image with a high spatial resolution at the same time. The spectral quality of the fused images is very important because the quality of a large number of remote sensing products depends on it. Due to the importance of the spectral quality of the fused images, its eval...
متن کاملLand Cover Subpixel Change Detection using Hyperspectral Images Based on Spectral Unmixing and Post-processing
The earth is continually being influenced by some actions such as flood, tornado and human artificial activities. This process causes the changes in land cover type. Thus, for optimal management of the use of resources, it is necessary to be aware of these changes. Today’s remote sensing plays key role in geology and environmental monitoring by its high resolution, wide covering and low cost...
